As I was already fed up with the routine in the morning and in the afternoon when my driver drives me everywhere I tell him to, I decided to tell him not to pick me up in the morning to drive me to work and back to our house. I decided to walk instead. Well, initially, everybody kept telling me, don't be crazy, blah blah (esp. expatriate staff, they exaggerate way too much), but i have to state, that i really enjoy that! People who i meet on the way to work are cool, always smiling, trying to chat with me, one guy even offered me a morning breakfast, wow! Another proof, that Pakistani people are very peaceful! Initially it took me 15 min to get to work, but now it takes me at least 25 min, you know, people already know me, so i have a series of chats on the way back and forth. It is so cool! However, on the other hand, be aware of wild dogs, they are quite dangerous and if you get lost in some quite streets, you surely will meet those dogs as I did. I find it challenging, so i was glad to see them!
The most important event of the last week was a New Year's Eve celebration, which is sort of shocking for me... Pakistani hardly celebrates a coming new year, so that i had a working day on the 30th of Dec 2009 as well as the 1st of Jan 2010, it never happened to me before. Well, it is a different feeling. It might mean that 2010 is going to be very productive for me :) All friends of mine in EU and Australia surely celebrated hard. Never mind, I and my housemates organized dinner, a big one, with some champagne and other common stuff needed for a NYE celebration. It was such a quiet, friendly and peaceful celebration. From time to time it is not bad at all. Well, next year i will make it up to myself.
Besides NYE, at work is everything going according to the plan, which is ok. During this week i am going to get some souvenirs and stuff, and next saturday, i have to say unfortunately, i am leaving this country full of contrasts. This weekend i and a couple of guys are going to visit some wild life places, we have been told that we would see some cool animals there, so i cannot wait to explore further places in Pakistan. The raw beauty of Pakistan is extraordinary, hence i cannot wait.
That's it from the last week! I will manage to post one more report right before my departure on Friday giving some basic summary of all my stay.
